Security Rock Star!
Security Rockstars 2018 is the European sequel to the Austrian start-up competition Security Rockstars 2016 and Start Secure 2015.
The competition’s goal is to find and support innovative ideas and solutions in the area of information security.
The Top 3 participants will present in front of an expert jury as well as senior security professionals from leading companies and universities during the Security Rockstars finals.
*Price packages consist partly of cash and partly of supporting services (e.g. business development, legal, security)
The Top 5 participants will be invited to join a 3-day start-up boot camp in Vienna and get the opportunity to present their idea at a vendor booth at the Security Rockstars finals.
The best idea will be rewarded with a development support package. Our team of senior technical and business experts will assist you in rapid prototyping a pilot to build a presentable showcase for potential customers.
Participation and Selection Process
Who can participate?
The selection process takes place in three stages:
Stage 1 – Abstract
To keep the entry hurdle low for early-stage start-ups, only a short abstract (max. 2000 words) is necessary in the first phase, which summarizes the problem and the technical solution approach, as well as the team and the business model.
Stage 2 – Business Plan
The best ideas get the chance to work out a business plan and the value proposition in detail within one month. These business plans are evaluated and ranked by all jurors. In addition, photos or videos of prototypes or demos (if available) should be submitted. Top five make it to the final.
Stage 3 – Big Finale
In the final not only the best idea counts, but also the presentation!
During the finale, every start-up has six minutes to present themselves and their product on stage. Afterwards the expert team asks judicial questions (also six minutes). The final ranking is based on the rating from stage 2 (60%), the final scoring of the experts (20%) and the vote of the industry event’s audience (20%).
